The Live Well Centre offers lots of services, events, and classes.

Some are drop-in, and for some you’ll need an appointment or a referral from a professional. Please check the information carefully.

Drop in

The Ageing Well Hub hosts a coffee morning for older people (and friends) to drop-in. There’s tea and coffee, and often a speaker to share advice and tips for ageing well.

Drop in every Wednesday morning, from 10am to 12pm.

We offer free blood pressure tests at the Live Well Centre. Drop-in any time during our opening hours, and we’ll check your blood pressure for you.

Our sensory drop-in clinic is for adults in Middlesbrough who are partially-sighted, blind, deaf, or hard of hearing.

The clinic takes place on the first Friday of every month, from 10am to 12pm.

No appointment is needed, and everyone is welcome.

The sexual health service is confidential and open to everyone. You can use our friendly, walk-in service via the Cleveland Centre entrance on these days:

Every Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm

Every Thursday from 1pm to 6pm

Our stop smoking service is here to help you quit. Anyone is welcome to drop-in for support and advice on these days:

The community midwives service offers pre-natal and ante-natal support.

The service is appointment only. To make an appointment, please call the community midwives on 01642 854880.

The Tuberculosis (TB) service offers support to people worried about TB.

This service is appointment only. You can find more details on the NHS website.

The welfare rights team offers specialist benefits advice.

They can tell you which benefits you might be able to get based on your circumstances and help you with your claim. They can also represent you in benefit appeals, up to Upper Tribunal level.

They offer appointments to all residents in Middlesbrough, and home visits for people who are unable to leave their home.

Referral only

Lung health testing for people being supported by the council’s Accessing Change Together (ACT) team.

You need a referral from your GP or another health professional.

We support people through the process of bowel screening when referred to us by their GP or medical professional.

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an NHS service for people whose long-term lung condition is affecting their quality of life and ability to carry out everyday tasks.

You need a referral from your GP or another health professional.

The specialist physical activity team (SPA team) offers a free 12-week physical activity programme. It’s designed to prevent ill-health and support long-term condition management through physical activity.

The programme is only for people with a health condition that could benefit from increased physical activity. You need a referral from your GP or another medical professional.

You’ll get tailored one-to-one support and access to a range of different exercise sessions. These include:

Gym sessions: This is a general gym-based session aimed at helping people to manage their health conditions.

Pilates: This is a mat-based class which focuses on the core muscles of the back and abdominal area. It’s a combination of slow controlled movements, including stretching, toning, and strengthening the core muscles and pelvic floor.

Stroke improvement: Stroke improvement is a functional exercise session to help improve the debilitating effects of a stroke.

Wellbeing gym sessions:  Provides people suffering from anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions access to the gym

Waiting Well is an NHS service supporting patients who are waiting for planned surgery or treatment.

If you’re eligible, the NHS will contact you.

South Tees Youth Justice Service works with the Live Well Centre to offer regular sessions for young people.

Referrals for this service come from agencies, including social care, Early Help, Stronger Families, community safety teams, schools, education providers, and the police.

Referrals are usually made when a young person is suspected of anti-social or criminal behaviour, or when they’re not engaging with education.

Some of our sessions include:

Tuff Tees: A safe space aimed at boys who have been open to South Tees Youth Justice Service or are on the borderline of offending. The group meets every two weeks to chat, eat, and explore new interests together.

Lady Bugs: A safe space aimed at girls who have been open to South Tees Youth Justice Service or are on the borderline of offending. The group meets every two weeks to chat, eat, and explore new interests together.

NEET Tuff Tees: A new group for young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). The group meets every two weeks to chat, eat, explore new interests, and build their CVs together.

Young Victims Group: Being the victim of a crime can have a big impact on someone, so our young victims group aims to build people’s self-esteem and confidence.
