Rosalind Waugh, Rosalind’s Larder
“As a small artisan business making award-winning preserves and baked goods from home in Middlesbrough, it was always my ambition to share my knowledge and expertise with both the local community and wider.
I was given the opportunity to start cookery lessons in the Dundas Arcade LiveWell Centre Kitchen. This has now transferred to the wonderful facility in the Cleveland Centre. I have nothing but praise for both the facilities, but also for the help and support from Kerry Melling and all the reception staff at the LiveWell.
Having extended hours is going to be so beneficial for my projects and business because many potential clients cannot attend during 9-5 hours during the working week. My aim is to offer a range of cookery lessons and I have run two classes on fermented foods which were very successful.”

Jess, Pathways2Purpose
“We use the Live Well Centre kitchen as part of our social care business, and it’s been a fantastic space for us. The facilities are excellent, clean, well-equipped, and perfectly suited to our needs. The staff have always been really accommodating and supportive to the young people we work with.
We use the kitchen to support autistic and neurodivergent young adults in developing life skills, particularly around food preparation and cooking. It’s a safe, welcoming environment that helps build confidence and independence, and we really value being able to use such a great community resource.”
Andrew Fisher, South Tees NHS Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service
“The South Tees NHS Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service truly values the partnership we have with the Live Well Centre in Middlesbrough. Having access to such a modern, welcoming, and fully equipped facility right in the heart of the town centre has made a huge difference to both our patients and staff.
The newly fitted-out gym space provides everything we need to safely and effectively deliver our seven-week exercise and education programme for people living with respiratory conditions. The environment is professional yet friendly – perfectly suited to supporting confidence, wellbeing, and long-term lifestyle change.
Our groups, usually around 16 patients, consistently comment on how much they enjoy attending the Live Well Centre. They appreciate the quality of the facilities, the accessible layout, and the positive atmosphere that makes coming to exercise something to look forward to.
The Live Well Centre team, from reception through to the gym staff, are excellent. Always approachable, supportive, and willing to help. Their professionalism and kindness make a real difference to our patients’ experience, and we greatly value the collaborative relationship we’ve built together.
We also benefit from being able to refer our patients back into the Live Well Centre after completing the programme, ensuring continuity of exercise, community engagement and ongoing support for their long-term health.
As the centre celebrates its first year in this fantastic new building, we’d like to express our genuine thanks for providing such a first-class facility for the local community and for being such an integral part of our respiratory patients’ rehabilitation journey.”
Beth Major, the Junction Foundation
“Being hosted by the Live Well Centre has enabled us to be based right in the heart of Middlesbrough allowing us to respond more quickly and in more appropriate surroundings for service users for whom this is a good location.
It has also benefitted us as an organisation by our teams being able to connect and build better relationships with teams working with similar client groups, enhancing our knowledge of allied services and ensuring more seamless services.”
Francesca McDougall, South Tees Women and Children’s Services
“Offering counselling from the Live Well Centre has been a huge benefit to both myself and clients.
To put clients at ease when they arrive, there is always someone on reception who greets them and shows them to the waiting area, a comfy sofa area with access to a water dispenser. The room I use for counselling is cosy and fit for purpose with a sofa and access to tea making facilities.
The team are always friendly and accommodating and have supported me in settling into the Centre. In a lone working role, it is reassuring to know the team are there for me to ask questions or talk to, the panic alarm in the room linked to reception offers extra reassurance too.”
